Jill Alventosa-Brown, Pastor of Congregational Care and Older Adults jalventosabrown@wmsumc.org Jill is the Pastor of Congregational Care and Older Adults. She spends a great deal of time organizing interesting activities for older adults and providing pastoral care during difficult life events. She loves to build relationships with people and walk with them through joy and sorrow while helping them discover God’s grace and presence in their lives. Interestingly, prior to becoming a minister, her first job was as a logistics specialist, shipping corn and sorghum seeds all over the world. As a teenager she was an exchange student to Belgium where she lived in the Flemish area and learned Dutch/Flemish. Most recently, she was the solo Pastor of St. Timothy’s UMC in Jamestown for 11 ½ years. For fun, Jill enjoys reading, traveling, going to movies, and getting together with friends.

Marshall Johnson, Director of Modern Service Music mjohnson@wmsumc.org As our Director of Music for Modern Worship, Marshall is able to connect with people and facilitate a connection to God through music. When the congregation sings loud enough to be heard over the band he gets goosebumps! When not at church, Marshall is the Vocal Music Director at Grimsley High School. Prior to returning to Greensboro, he lived and worked in New York and San Francisco as a professional vocalist and in 2003 was nominated for a Grammy award while performing as a member of the internationally acclaimed a cappella ensemble Chanticleer. He was also an avid gamer in a former life!

Dan Martin, Senior Pastor dmartin@wmsumc.org Dan was appointed as Senior Pastor to West Market Church in 2015. He loves being a part of the United Methodist Church because all people are welcome and diversity is celebrated. Before starting at West Market, Dan served all over western North Carolina — in places like Denton, Winston-Salem, Thomasville, Advance, Newton and most recently in Hendersonville. Dan is very involved in the global church and has served on or participated in many United Methodist committees and programs. Dan is married to Anne and they have two grown sons — Duncan (also a Methodist pastor) and Parker, two daughter-in-laws, and twin granddaughters.  In his spare time, he enjoys anything outdoors…fishing, gardening, cooking, working, hiking. Dan also loves to overbuild things with wood "just cause he can." Dan and Anne raise chickens for their eggs (organic, of course) and Dan, much to Anne’s chagrin, is prone to cook, can, or preserve any food item that is placed in his care.
