1. Embracing the Wideness: The Shared Convictions of the UMC, Join Pastor Beth for a three-week study via Zoom starting Wednesday, January 27th offered both from 7:00am-8:00am and 5:30pm-6:30pm.
This study contrasts a generous orthodoxy with the culture wars that seek to drive a wedge between Christians with deep faith convictions. A generous orthodoxy is possible for The United Methodist Church because scripture supports both a confessing movement and a reconciling movement. What great things could be accomplished if we rediscovered orthodoxy in service of the healing, instead of dividing, of our bodies—our churches!
2. Radical Justice: A faith-based study and discussion on the criminal justice system. Our Director of Youth Ministry Rhiannon Kelly, MSW will be teaching. Participants will meet each week at 11:00am on Wednesday for 6-weeks to explore the challenges of the justice system, engage in meaningful discussions and Christian responses, and encourage action for reform and restoration. This study will use Prison Fellowship's curriculum along with The New Jim Crow book by Michelle Alexander. Materials will be provided, and it is recommended (not required) that participants purchase The New Jim Crow.

4. The Passion Play: Living the Story of Christ's Last Days Sign-up today for a new Lenten study that will meet both on Sunday mornings at 10:00am (starting 2/21) and Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm (starting 2/24). With few exceptions, the Oberammergau Passion Play has been presented by the inhabitants of the village of Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany every 10 years since 1634. The play is a staging of Jesus' Passion story, covering the final period of his life from his visit to Jerusalem to the journey to the cross. In his new book and study, The Passion Play: Living the Story of Christ’s Last Days, author and pastor Rob Fuquay follows the biblical story of the Passion and how it has been experienced through the centuries against the backdrop of this amazing play. Perfect for Lent, this study takes you on a journey to the origins of the Passion Play and helps you understand how the play has been used both as a ritual of praise and later as a weapon through its anti-Semitic past. The book and study help readers and small groups feel a sense of connection to the play while recognizing their own place in the story of Jesus.
