TRADITIONAL WORSHIP IN OUR HISTORIC SANCTUARY

Our traditional service at 11:00am is available in person in the Sanctuary or via Facebook (Facebook.com/wmsumc). Services include great hymns of faith and a wide range of high quality choral and instrumental music, as well as a relevant and lively message helping to bring Biblical truths and their application to our day-to-day life. Traditional liturgy includes communal prayer and the use of historic creeds to affirm our faith.

In addition, Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of every month.

USHERS + GREETERS

Volunteers serve as greeters and ushers at our traditional services. Greeters welcome worshipers on the front porch of the church before each service. Ushers are responsible for assisting worshipers to their seats, receiving the offering, and assisting with the flow of the communion services. Together, these teams provide hospitality on Sunday mornings to welcome all to worship at West Market Street UMC.

ACOLYTES

The traditional service of the Methodist Church follows liturgy that include the lighting of the altar candles as the service is begun and then extinguishing the candles and carrying the flame forth out into the world as the service ends. This indicates that we move from worshiping God within the church to serving God outside of the church. The duty of acolyte is traditionally given to our older elementary or middle school-aged children which provides them an opportunity to serve as worship leaders in the church. Contact our church office if your child would be interested in volunteering for this role.
