Join our Traditional Music Director Dreama Lovitt in an exploration of the global variety of hymns, spirituals, and songs of praise. A monthly series presented by The Hymn Society of North America and Canada, this first seminar will feature Dr. Kim R. Harris, a Liturgical Consultant for the Office of Black Ministry in the Archdiocese of New York and a renowned lecturer and performer specializing in the music of African American freedom traditions and Spirituals. A brief discussion will follow the viewing of her lecture as we contemplate congregational song in its depth and variety of styles and cultural traditions. We’ll meet in Room 319.
