To continue our shared ministry and conversations around race and faith, the St. Matthews and West Market Street “Let’s Talk Race” team will host a zoom workshop on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 led by Deaconess Garlinda Burton, Director of Resource Development of the United Methodist Commission on Religion and Race. Many of us have been doing the hard work of looking at race and faith, stepping out of our comfort zones, and seeking ways to grow in understanding. This workshop digs deep to look at the Methodist church, from its early days to current times and asks if the church is ready to confront racism, including its own racism. Deaconess Burton has 30 years’ experience in leadership in our denomination and brings her unique expertise in intercultural differences and competencies, equity, anti-racism, and justice. Engaging leaders from bishops to clergy and laity across the denomination, her insights and skills will take participants to a next level of learning and action. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
