The Community Center Supports …
women struggling at home with issues associated with HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, and poverty.
THEIR IMPACT
100 WOMEN FROM ELEVEN DIFFERENT VILLAGES …
come to the community center to weave baskets and pedal sew. They are paid a living wage and served meals. The products they make are sold to tourists and community members.
MORE THAN 70% …
of the women working at the community center are able to pay school fees for their children since their families could not otherwise afford them.
OVER 100 WOMEN PARTICIPATE IN R4W’S MICRO-FINANCE PROGRAM …
which helps women start their own businesses. The women in this program are engaged in more than 10 different types of business initiatives, from second-hand clothing stores, to restaurants, to tailor-made dresses, and money transfer businesses.
R4W’s Partnership with WMC
R4W HAS BEEN SEVERELY AFFECTED BY CORONAVIRUS …
since most of their profit comes from sales to tourists. R4W has had to shut down their community center because of Covid-19 and can no longer pay the women who worked there.
R4W SENT THEIR HANDMADE PRODUCTS TO WMC …
to sell online in the United States. All proceeds from purchased products go back to R4W.
