YOUTH MINISTRY

Our Youth Ministry engages and challenges 6th-12th grade youth to become lifelong disciples of Christ, serving, worshiping, and leading in the world.

OUR VALUES:

COMPASSION: We support and nurture our youth in their lives.
LOVE: We unconditionally care for our youth with a spirit of kindness and guidance.
ACCEPTANCE: We embrace our youth where they are in their personal journey.
BELONG: We strive to create an environment of comfort, open exchange of ideas, and genuine friendships.
SERVANTS: We serve humbly, putting others before ourselves.

  • Fall schedule

You can always find our full schedule of youth events on the website and we invite you to follow us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/youthattheloft

  • Sunday Morning Small Groups

We have more than twenty different schools represented across two different worship services in our youth group. As a result, we recognize that there may not be much of an opportunity for our youth to see and get to know each other during the week. During the Faith & Fellowship hour (10:00 - 10:55 am) on Sunday mornings, we offer small groups based on age range (middle school girls, middle school boys, high school girls and boys). Youth have the opportunity to know each other in small groups, talk about their week, and discuss how faith intersects with their life.

Each month we encourage small groups to get together at least once to do something fun together outside of the Faith & Fellowship hour. This may be going to a Grasshopper game, grabbing lunch after church, going to a high school football game, or doing a movie night. These fun events allow more time to get to know each other without any agenda except having fun. At Youth @ the LOFT, we think it is important to live out our faith together in community. We hope that you will find an opportunity to build a community with your small group this year.

  • Youth Service Opportunities

We believe that faith produces acts of service in the love of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit. We offer a variety of ways that youth can serve the church, the community and the world. For example, on the 2nd Thursday of most months, we work with other people in the community at Hot Dish & Hope, an interfaith kitchen, where we serve a hot meal to people experiencing homelessness and food scarcity. Youth are also an essential part of many of our children's programs, serving as leaders at VBS, Wednesday afternoon mission programs and summer camps. We also have different youth service projects throughout the year. This may be volunteering to sort clothes at the Salvation Army, doing some repair work for a senior citizen, serving at Soccer and Studies for refugee children with NC Fusion Foundation, helping at the IRC, or volunteering at Peacehaven Farm. This is a great way for youth to serve their community and work toward any service hours they may need for school.

Each summer, we experience a new community or culture on our mission trips. In the past we've traveled to Guatemala, NYC, Costa Rica, Savannah, Bahamas, New Orleans, Wilmington, and Lumberton. Mission trips offer youth a great opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and make a difference in the world.
